Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use my Tennessee Farm Tax Exempt number for purchases at your business?

A: We do accept Tennessee Farm Tax Exempt numbers at Overhome Auto and Ag Supply for purchases.  However, some items do not qualify for the exemption, To accept the Farm Tax Exempt numbers, we must keep a copy of your card on file, so be sure to bring it with you.  If you are unsure about what qualifies, give us a call, or you can read Tennessee's farm tax exempt rules and print the application at TN Farm Tax Exemption Guidelines.

Q: I reside outside of TN, will I have to pay TN sales tax? If so, what is the sales tax rate?

A: Out of state residents are not required to pay Tennessee sales tax if we deliver the product out of the state of Tennessee.  Tennessee sales tax rate varies according to the purchase...for tractors, farm equipment, parts, etc., the rate is 9% in our county.  For trailers, the rate is 7%, plus there is a local tax of $7.50, and there is a special tiered state tax on trailers that will be no more than $44, depending on the purchase price of the trailer.  Certain equipment qualifies for farm tax exemption if you have a farm tax exempt number.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: We accept cash, personal check, business check, money order, cashier's check, loan checks, wire transfer, & credit cards in-store (Mastercard, Visa, Discover, and American Express). With some forms of payment, we may require a waiting period for the payment to clear before releasing the purchase.

Q: Do you take trade-ins?

A: Generally we do not. But if we do and your purchase is taxable, it will be taxed on the difference (purchase price minus the trade-in).

Q: Do you provide financing?

A: We do not provide in-house financing, but can finance through partners such as Alabama Credit Union and Sheffield.  We are also happy to deal with your personal bank or credit union.  For more details about financing a purchase with us, call or click on the Financing link.

Q: Do you offer shipping or transportation for purchases such as tractors, truck beds or trailers?

A: We do offer shipping for tractors, farm equipment, truck beds, flatbed trailers, etc.  Call or email with your zip code for a shipping quote from us.  Shipping charges will vary based on your location.

CM Truckbeds FAQ

I'm looking to purchase a flatbed for my truck - where do I start?

You can see the models of truck beds available by clicking this link to CM Truck Beds Models page, or Shop our Selection.  You can also check out a brochure or tips for ordering.

Give us a call for pricing and availability of the models you are interested in.

We will need to know the make, year model, and model of your truck to quote a bed. This information is needed to determine which size bed will fit your truck.

If the truck did not come with a factory bed (came as cab & chassis), it will have a different size bed than factory bed trucks (due to different measurements from cab to axle, and different width frame runners).

What is included on the standard build bed?

The most common standard models we sell (SK, ER, TM, RD, RD-AL, and SK-AL) all are built standard with headache rack, rear tailboard, lights (tail, brake and backup) in the headboard and tailboard, DOT required clearance and marker lights, all lighting wired, 7 way round trailer plug and 4 way flat plug on tailboard, gooseneck ball, B&W drop hitch rated at 18,500 lbs and B&W gooseneck hitch rated at 30,000 lbs.  The SK model comes standard now with 4 built in tool boxes, while the SK-AL is built standard with 2 tool boxes.

Will you install my truck bed any day of the week?

We install the beds on Mondays through Fridays, & the shop opens at 9:00 am.

It usually takes about 4 hours to install a bed, and the installation should be scheduled at least one day in advance; however, the earlier you can schedule it the better, as we cannot always accomodate an installation with only a day or two of notice due to jobs we may have already scheduled for the shop.

Customers are welcome to drop the truck off, or wait in the office while it's being installed.

We can install tool boxes on the underside of dually or cab & chassis beds, usually 24" or 30" or 36" boxes.

We also install mud flaps, which we have here in inventory.

Most trucks need a fuel hose extension to reach the fuel fill cap; we have these in stock as well.

Do I need to have my bed removed before I come, or will you remove it?

We will remove your bed for a fee of $200, but we can make no guarantees against damage to the bed. If you have a nice bed, you may prefer to take the bed off before you come. If you remove the bed prior to coming, you simply need to secure the lights to the frame to be legal driving.

Can I buy a bed and install it myself?

We do offer truck beds for sale without installation: if you would prefer to install the bed yourself, or have it installed elsewhere, please specify this when you call for a quote.

For safety reasons, we will not set a bed on your truck frame for transport without complete installation.

Please bring a trailer.

I live outside of Tennessee, will I have to pay TN sales tax?

If you reside in a state other than Tennessee, you may or may not have to pay our sales tax:  According to TN law, if you buy the bed & have it installed in TN, we must charge TN sales tax on your purchase.  However, if we deliver the bed to another state & it is not installed in TN, you will not owe TN sales tax.

I have no need of the bed I'm taking off, do you buy factory beds?

We don't usually buy factory beds - we have no resale market for them.  Usually the best place to sell your used factory bed is a body shop that rebuilds wrecked trucks.

Can I finance my purchase of a flatbed for my truck?

Yes. We can finance CM truck beds through Sheffield Financial.

Do you have a bed in stock to fit my truck? What models do you keep in stock?

We keep the RD Model in stock to fit the most common truck models, but sometimes run out of a model before we get more in to replace them.  We have some of the SK Model, RD Aluminum Model, and SK Aluminum Model in stock, but usually only a few, that may or may not fit your truck.  Please call or email Mel to ask whether we have a particular model in stock to fit your truck or not.

If you don't have the bed I am looking for in stock, how long would it take to get one?

If we don't have the bed in stock, it normally takes about 6-8 weeks to get.  There are exceptions - on more common models we may be able to get one quicker on occasion - on special order beds, it could take longer than 8 weeks. If you have a specific bed in mind, we would be happy to check for you.
